2013 Football Season

2013 Football Season

I have always loved Football. I loved to play Football as a kid, I love to watch Football on TV, and I love coaching Cameron and his teammates! In my opinion, Football is the perfect team sport. In order to be successful, all players have to work together. We will either win as a team or lose as a team. In Football, an individual effort will only get you so far.

The New Hope Grizzlies 5 & 6 year old team have practiced and played hard. Their hard work is evident in our games. We are half way through the season and our players seem to be smaller than the other teams in the league but they have definitely out performed their competition so far. They have blocked, ran, and tackled with authority!

Cameron has played wonderfully this season. On defense, he is playing linebacker and has several hard hits to his credits already. On offense, he is one of my running backs. He is not the fastest, but he is determined when he has the ball. He has ran for a few touchdowns and he is a great lead blocker. Cameron loves contact and he is a very aggressive player. He will never shy away from an opportunity to hit. Cameron weighs in at 55 pounds and does not hesitate to take on players that weigh over 75 pounds (I know they weigh over 75 lbs due to weight stickers on helmets). At the start of the season Whitfield county gave all of the communities brand new Rawlings helmets. His new helmet looks like it has been in use for a few years already. We have worked diligently on coaching the correct way to tackle and the boys are doing great. Watch this video to learn proper tackling techniques.

This year Cameron’s team will be wearing White jerseys with Navy trim, Navy pants, and once again we will wear Pink socks to support breast cancer awareness. We have decided to dedicate our Pink socks to Lisa Bonds and Courtney King. Both of these women have touched lives and held special places in many students hearts over the years. Unfortunately, the Whitfield County Community lost both of these women in September due to cancer. These boys have no complaints when it comes to wearing Pink for a good cause!
