Fathers Day 2013

Fathers Day 2013

I had a wonderful Father’s Day this year and I am blessed to have two precious boys call me Daddy! Being a Daddy is a true blessing and I am so thankful for my boys!

We had a busy day planned and the first order of business was getting out of bed at 5:45 am to go eat breakfast with my Grandfather. Cameron wanted to join us for breakfast so he got up early too.

After breakfast it was time for church and then lunch with the in-laws. A Father’s Day around our house would not be complete without some outdoor activity so we decided to go fishing in the creek that runs through our pasture. Cameron and I headed out a little early since Carter needed a nap. After an hour or so Carter and my wife came and joined us on the creek banks. We didn’t have a lot of luck but Cameron was quick to point out that we “almost” caught a lot of fish since we had a lot of nibbles.

Cameron did manage to catch a decent sized bream and it was the very first time that he caught a fish all by himself. He set the hook and reeled the fish in all on his own. The look on his face was priceless and he could not stop grinning! Carter wasn’t sure about the whole fishing thing but he asked several times “what are you doing” and “why are you doing that?”. I did learn that Carter was a pro at getting his fishing line tangled up in everything around us including himself.

Needless to say I had a great Father’s Day this year. The only thing missing was seeing my Dad but he is enjoying a well deserved vacation in Florida!

  1. I truly admire you for teaching your boys how to hunt and fish. These outdoors activities, beneficial in a lot of ways, should be practiced by more and more youngsters. Good job. I’m sure your kids will be thankful.
