Dodge Ram Superbowl commercial “Farmer”
The Ram commercial begins “And on the 8th day… God looked down on his planned paradise and said I need a care taker… So God made a Farmer“. This immediately caught my attention. I was hooked on the 2 minute spot of The Dodge Ram commercial titled “Farmer” featuring the late Paul Harvey. This was my favorite commercial by a long shot. I felt this commercial explained the life of a farmer very well to millions of people. Most of these folks have no idea about the daily struggles farmers face.
Just to clarify, I am not a full time farmer. My farming does not provide much support to my family in the form of income. It does however contribute to the way we are raising our boys.
My boys spend a lot of time on the farm both playing and working. You would be surprised how much work my boys are willing to do. They beg to go do it. Every week the boys spend time picking corn, feeding animals, and other minor farm chores. They know that the work they are doing is not just work. It sustains the farm and the animals on our farm.
The other night I showed the boys the Dodge Ram “Farmer” commercial to see what they thought. Both boys loved it. Cameron said his favorite part was the image of the father and son walking side by side in the field. Carter made me replay the commercial several times and would just smile at me throughout the commercial. The tag line “So God made a Farmer” was great. I think that both boys really liked that line. I know they loved the images that went a long with Paul Harvey’s voice.I loved their reactions to this video and we have watched it several times since then.
At the end of the commercial Harvey says “Somebody who would bale a family together with the soft strong bonds of sharing… Who would laugh then sigh… and then reply with smiling eyes when his son says that he wants to spend his life doing what Dad does… So God made a Farmer”. I have no doubt that Freeman Springs Farm will be in good hands when my boys grow up. I am proud of the fact that my boys are farm boys through and through.
Another cool factor about this video is if you watch the video and share it, the Ram brand makes a donation. To raise $1 million to support FFA and assist in local hunger and educational programs.
