Welcome! As the name suggests I will be blogging about being in the outdoors with kids… I love my kids, I love to hunt, and I love to hunt with my kids. An old saying goes “if your kids are out hunting you will not be out hunting your kids”. As I grow older and watch my boys get bigger this old saying makes more sense. I started hunting at a young age with my father and grandfather and now that I have two boys of my own I plan and have started hunting with them.
One of the great things about taking a kid hunting is just spending quality time with them. No interruptions… Well except for the occasional text from Momma making sure everything is OK. It means so much to kids to do something that is different. Every trip to your favorite hunting spot is not just a trip with Dad but a learning experience and adventure.
The little things that we have experienced for years in the woods are relatively brand new to kids. For instance, a barking squirrel or a nervous doe “blowing”. Most kids don’t pay attention or have had an opportunity to hear those sounds until they are in the woods. And of course, to a kid, every sound in the woods is a deer coming your way! I absolutely love it!
By utilizing this blog I hope to take you along on some of our adventures, lessons learned, and general how to tips with kids hunting. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I do writing it.
